Wattage Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 9, 2026
Wattage is a cycling app: structured indoor workouts on your smart trainer, and outdoor rides recorded on Apple Watch. This policy explains what Wattage collects, why, and your choices. Wattage does not sell your data, show ads, or track you across other apps and websites.
What Wattage collects
Account information. When you sign in with Apple or Google, Wattage receives a unique account identifier and, if you allow it, your name, email address and profile photo. These identify your account and are used for nothing else.
Ride data. For each ride: the workout, start time, duration, and second-by-second power, cadence, heart rate and target power, plus summaries computed from them (average and normalized power, training load, time in zones). Your functional threshold power (FTP) is stored to scale workouts to you. This is what powers your ride history, training load and recommendations.
Apple Health. With your permission, Wattage reads your body weight (to estimate virtual speed), cycling FTP and date of birth (to set your power and heart rate zones), heart rate and energy during rides, and sleep, resting heart rate and heart rate variability (compared to your own normal to suggest how hard to train each day; this stays on your phone), and cycling workouts other apps saved (so outdoor rides count toward your training load; also only on your phone), and saves your rides to Health as cycling workouts. On Apple Watch it records heart rate during rides, and on outdoor rides, distance and the route. Health data is used only to provide these features. It is never used for advertising or marketing, never sold, and never shared with third parties. You can change Health permissions at any time in the Health app.
Bluetooth. Wattage connects to your smart trainer to set resistance and read power and cadence. It remembers the trainer you paired, on your device only.
Crash and error reports. When something goes wrong (the app crashes, or a ride fails to save), Wattage sends a report to Sentry, the service we use to find and fix bugs. A report says what failed, on which device and app version, and the steps just before it, and is tagged with your account's id so we can follow up. It never includes your name, email, or Health data. Reports are kept by Sentry for up to 90 days.
Outdoor rides. An outdoor ride recorded on Apple Watch uses your location to measure distance and speed and to draw the ride's route. The route is saved to Apple Health with the workout and to your Wattage account, so the ride's map shows on any of your devices. It's only used to show you your own rides, and is deleted with the ride or your account. Wattage doesn't track your location at any other time.
Strava (only if you connect it)
If you connect Strava, Wattage uploads each completed ride to your Strava account. Wattage stores the access tokens Strava provides so it can upload on your behalf. Disconnecting Strava in Settings deletes those tokens and revokes Wattage's access on Strava. Rides already on Strava are governed by Strava's privacy policy.
Where data is stored
Account and ride data is stored on Wattage's servers in the United States (Railway for the server, Neon for the database), with encryption in transit and at rest. Rides waiting to upload are kept on your device until they reach the server.
Deleting your data
In the app, go to Settings > Delete Account. This permanently deletes your account, ride history and settings from Wattage's servers, and revokes Sign in with Apple and Strava access. Copies of rides you saved to Apple Health or Strava stay there, under your control.
Children
Wattage is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted here with a new date. Significant changes will be noted in the app.
